A journey into the past: immerse yourself in the fascinating world of Bentheim Castle! Our castle tours allow you to discover the hidden secrets and rich history of these historic walls. Our experienced castle guides look forward to taking you on this exciting tour of discovery.
In addition to our public castle tours, which you can take part in without prior registration, we also offer private castle tours as well as a digital castle tour on request. The digital castle tour takes place in the picturesque stables of Burg Bentheim and is specially designed for visitors who, for various reasons, are unable to explore the castle on foot. This interactive experience allows you to explore the history and architecture of the castle at your own pace, supported by exciting audio and video content.

Please note: During the Christmas market at Burg Bentheim from 29 November to 22 December 2024, there will be no public guided tours of the castle.
Costs: Reduced admission costs (see visitor information), payable in cash or with a card at the castle ticket office + an additional €4 per person (children up to 14 years free), which must be paid directly in cash to the castle guide.
HISTORY
History of the castle
Bentheim Castle is the largest hilltop castle in northwest Germany and was first mentioned in 1050. It has been owned by the Counts and Princes of Bentheim and Steinfurt for five centuries.
Explore Bentheim Castle and gain an insight into the history and secrets of almost an entire century. As one of the most beautiful excursion destinations in the county, the castle invites visitors to discover the large grounds, the powder tower or the stables.

CHRISTMAS MARKET 2024
On Friday, November 29, 2024, we will open the gates for our Christmas market at Burg Bentheim!
Amidst the historic walls, our exhibitors will be offering their lovingly handmade products in decorated wooden huts.
The castle courtyard is transformed into a magical, unique setting. Explore the wintry backdrop, let yourself be enchanted by the smell of fresh waffles and listen to the most beautiful Christmas carols.
We are now also looking for exhibitors who can inspire visitors with their individual offerings and contribute to the fairytale-like, unique atmosphere at the castle.
