¹ In conjunc­tion with castle tours, wedding photos and for fami­lies, severely disabled persons with ID, Bad Bentheim guest card and groups of 15 persons or more (p. p.).
² From 15 people in conjunc­tion with a guided tour of the castle per pupil. Two accom­panying adults per school class are free of charge.

Partial closure of the battlement

Due to damage to a wall below the batt­le­ments, parts of the batt­le­ments at the Powder Tower are tempo­r­a­rily closed. The rest of the castle is open as usual and can be visited without rest­ric­tion.

Approach

PARKING LOTS

Parking is available in the parking lot of the castle park at the Funkenstiege. From here it is only a 300 m walk to the castle.

PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION

Bad Bentheim train station (“Bad Bentheim Nord” stop) is 1.2 km away from
Burg. From the bus stop “Bad Bentheim, Zentrum” it is only 250 m to the foot of the castle.

ACCESSIBILITY

If you cannot manage the steep climb up to the castle on foot, you can also drive up by car. Please call the castle ticket office in advance before you arrive. There is a disabled toilet on the grounds. Only the Marstall, St. Cathe­ri­ne’s Church and the inner cour­tyard are acces­sible for people with walking disa­bi­li­ties — unfort­u­na­tely, other buil­dings do not have an elevator.
DOGS

Dogs are very welcome at Burg Bentheim. They may be kept on a short lead on the castle grounds and in the inner cour­tyard. Unfort­u­na­tely, dogs are not allowed in the exhi­bi­tion rooms such as the Marstall or the Kronen­burg. You will find notices to this effect in front of the respec­tive buil­dings. There is a drin­king bowl for four-legged friends in front of the Kronen­burg in the inner cour­tyard.
FAMILIES WITH CHILDREN

We are always happy to welcome our youn­gest visi­tors! To help children and fami­lies pass the time, we offer the child­ren’s quiz “The Knight’s Path” at the castle ticket office to discover the castle with all its secrets and stories. You are welcome to leave your baby carriage in a safe place at the ticket office. There is also a toilet with chan­ging table in the inner cour­tyard .
PHOTOGRAPHING

Photo­graphy is permitted throug­hout the castle grounds . The private use of photos of Bentheim Castle is permitted, as is publi­ca­tion on private social media chan­nels and non-commer­cial websites. Frequently asked questions

Yes, you can also visit the castle complex inde­pendently and without a guided tour. In this case, you only pay the regular admis­sion price per person.

The castle can only be parti­ally visited with a wheel­chair or walker. While the south wing is equipped with an elevator, the first floor of the Kronen­burg or the batt­le­ments, for example, can only be reached via stairs. There is a disabled toilet on the grounds.

Bentheim Castle is a tour opera­tion. We are ther­e­fore unfort­u­na­tely unable to offer you rooms for private events.

In addi­tion to our public castle tours, which you can take part in without prior regis­tra­tion (dates can be found here), we also offer private castle tours as well as a digital castle tour on request. The digital castle tour takes place in the picturesque stables of Burg Bentheim and is speci­ally desi­gned for visi­tors who, for various reasons, are unable to explore the castle on foot. This inter­ac­tive expe­ri­ence allows you to explore the history and archi­tec­ture of the castle at your own pace, supported by exci­ting audio and video content.

No, there are no cate­ring faci­li­ties on the castle grounds. However, the “Ferdi­nands” café, which is not run by us, is located directly at the entrance to the castle grounds, above the first castle gate. There are other restau­rants and cafés at the foot of the castle.
